With SASL/OAUTHBEARER and an HTTP token endpoint, clients call the token
endpoint to login and on every token refresh. These calls have no metrics
around request count, latency, errors and retries (they are somehow visible but
only in logs)
This task is to review observability in this area and consider adding some
metrics as needed around connections to token endpoints (rate, latency avg/max,
errors, retries). New metrics so KIP needed.
