I think we can not provide a distribution for everything people want
anyway. So instead of having more distributions I think we should
concentrate on providing a really simple way for users to create their
own distros.

I disagree on having a separate distribution. Currently we have the minimal
distribution and everyone who wants a minimalistic Karaf can build on top of
that. I don't see any added value in having multiple distributions.
Till this day, I didn't see any anyone complain about enterprise features
(tx, jpa), nor did we create a distribution for them.
