I've actually been holding off on 1.7 specific features. The api for file permissions would be helpful for cross platform situations.
I think that there was talk of switching hadoop to 1.7 as the default - not sure where that went. 1.6 is quite old when you think about it. That said, not sure we should give anyone any reason to not play with or adopt knox. I would base it on the Hadoop default.
