Hi Everyone,
Hadoop in general will need to support JRE 1.6 for some time. Therefore
Knox must also compile run with 1.6. I will be changing our Jenkins
jobs to reflect this and everyone should be using 1.6 in their local
environments.

I would vote for jdk 1.7.
Support for JDK 6 has EOLed in November 2012,
Please see

We have hit a problem with JDK 1.6 - cross realm Kerberos authn does not
work between MIT KDC and MIT KDC. This has been fixed only in JDK 1.7 and
not back ported to JDK 1.6.
Thanks

I've actually been holding off on 1.7 specific features.
The api for file permissions would be helpful for cross platform
situations.
I think that there was talk of switching hadoop to 1.7 as the default - not
sure where that went.
1.6 is quite old when you think about it.
That said, not sure we should give anyone any reason to not play with or
adopt knox.
I would base it on the Hadoop default.

Hi Everyone,
Our intermittent build failures have been fixed. The problem was that
there was not a "default" JDK on every machine. This does point out that
were are using the default JDK for our Jenkins jobs now. We should
probably be using a specific version.
The question is what version of JDK/JRE should we be using? 1.6 or 1.7?
Does anyone have 1.7 specific code in Knox yet?
Kevin.
