The issue was Kylin connectivity with embedded Derby database in Hive. Installed MySQL and JDBC connector. Dropped sample project in Kylin and run the sample scripts. In Hive, Kylin tables are now available and querying the tables shows data. Faced another issue at Step 14. Will create a separate post for it.
