Hi all,

There is a new converter tool which can convert sdf file to XLIFF files and vice versa and also sdf files to gsi files (and vice versa of course).

It was written in Java by Christian Schmidt during his internship at SUN Microsystems.

Note however that the generated gsi files have different KeyIDs from those provided by SUN. also the original sdf file is required to convert the gsi file back to sdf. This is because there is information loss converting to gsi fileformat.

In the XLIFF files all necessary information is stored to regenerate the original sdf file. If you process the sdf file make sure this information is not lost at some stage or you will not be able to use your translations for OOo since ti cannot get converted back to sdf fileformat.

So before using this tool in a productive environment I strongly recommend you to check the whole workflow before hand.

The sources are located in CWS gh13 in transex3/java/l10nconv. Just go there and say dmake (in an OOo environment of course) and you will get the jar file. They will be available in the master build as soon as the CWS is inetgrated.

The jar file converter.jar will also be availabel in a solver tarball.

Hope this helps
Gregor
