hi guys!

i'm a new lenya user, but i've followed this discussion with interest.

same here. having to scroll extensively should be avoided imho. it's ok if i want to view a large amount of *information* in context, but *controls* should not ever require scrolling...

granted, solprovider's design study does make the interface more accessible and self-explaining for the new user (which is good), but it does so at the expense of reduced efficiency for the experienced user (which is bad, since most users will spend most of their lives being "proficient" after an initial learning phase).

to me, a click on a tab is way more easy and precise than dragging a scrollbar or using the wheel.

[slightly off-topic:]

the main problem i see with the lenya interface is not tabs by themselves, but the fact that there are two layers of nested tabs.

i would rather we get rid of the top row of tabs (admin, site, authoring, live) and replace them with a "mode" dropdown between "workflow" and "help". ideally, the mode is also displayed in the menubar title for quick orientation.
this would free some more screen real estate for document editing.

just my 2 eurocents...
