Hi:
Recently was updated jetty to a newer version. In the Lenya source,
we keep the licenses related to the jars into the licences dir. In
particular I have concerns with mail.jar. IIRC, it is a
non-compatible license.
If this is a problem (though it was packaged with JettyPlus) we should
remove mail.jar and activation.jar from the sources.
if Lenya doesn't need them, then we can remove them, but I am not sure
which libraries are needed
is mail.jar part of the new Jetty?
Nope. It is part of the "extras" pack.
AFAIK, we don't need them to run jetty. Giacomo updated jetty in
cocoon without the need of all of these extras.
You are right, but Cocoon is not Lenya. And Lenya uses JettyPlus which
contains some additional functionality like transaction support based on
JOTM that will be handy when it comes to JCR integration.
I guess the JOTM part doesn't need mail.jar, etc, right?
If there are
any licencing issues with these additional libs we should take care of
but AFAIK the libraries from ObjectWeb are open-source.
what are the licenses of these packages?
What about using
Maven for Lenya and download the dependencies if required?
In the case of a binary package this will be a problem.
Are there
any intentions in the Cocoon community to "mavenize" Cocoon itself?
yes, I think there is progress on mavenizing
