42385 still seems to be alive and blocking after the toString()
patch. When the bug bites the result is too bad for a release, I think.
I agree, whereas IIUC the toString() patch didn't break anything but
just brought the flaws of my code to the surface :)
Help maybe on the way - if you find the time I'd appreciate if you
could have a look at the patch:

I stripped down the patch to the (hopefully) relevant bits (we don't
have a host and port in our internal URLs), and it seems to do the
trick. Some more testing would of course be greatly appreciated.

I think with what Jürgen and Andreas fixed and this last one by me,
42385 might finally actually be fixed. If others could test and confirm
that would be great. Batik's caching is completely weird and wonky. You
shouldn't have to delve that deeply into the source to make your code
work properly. RC6 feels like the right one to me!
