BTW, shall we release a binary version at all?
yes, I think so.
Anything lowering the (rather high) entrance barrier is important -
not everyone is a knowledgeable user at the beginning but getting an
easy start without having to install another piece of software could
trigger interest.
The problem I see is that the user certainly expects to get a
completely usable product when downloading the binaries. With Lenya,
this is not the case - you just get a little showcase application, but
can't do any serious work with it. As soon as you want to develop your
own publication, you need the source version.
I don't need the source version to run my publications. Granted they
aren't anything fancy, but you can create a decent site without the
source. A binary allows someone interested the opportunity to download
and run quickly. However, if we are working towards a binary release,
that sounds good to me.
