Back on 10/14/04 Thomas Lange wrote that he was responsible for the
current linguistic UNO API and integrating linguistic third party
software implementing that API in OOo / SO.

And a direct quote from that email: "However what I'm interested in
would be the definition of an API for those tasks. If possible an API
that works for all languages, that especially includes CJK (Chinese,
Japanese, Korean, ...) and CTL (Thai, Arabic, Hebrew, ...) languages."

The most recent email of his, to any of the OOo lists to which i am
subscribed, and have not deleted the messages of, is about about a
new configuration entry in the Application Framework.

specification for a Grammar API. [Come to think of it, one of his
messages suggested that he would start working on it in June 2005 at
the earliest.]

OTOH, I haven't seen any formal --- or even informal --- specs for a
Grammar API on any of the lists --- but I might have missed it for
various reasons. Other than a list of requirements that was posted
back in November 2004.
