Yep I sure did, I have added it into the whitelist - I used to get an error
until I did now I get an empty grid.

Hmm, lemme play some more and see what I can find.

assuming you've already looked over the code, and the code is OK: did 
you add "cfmx.development.com" to your whitelist(s)?  Flex controls 
access to external objects, SOAP, and HTTP Requests, via whitelists.   
Whitelists for flex are usually set in flex-config.xml, which, if you've 
performed a typical install, can be found in 
cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\flex.
