If he's got a 300mb compressed Access database, then no definately not. As Neil says, suicide... Particularly on Windows. On *nix its not so bad, because it uses a text file.

If you don't have much traffic and you reduce the period that client variables are stored for you might be able to get away with using the registry for a while.
