Giles,
You'll find it's time well spent. If the traffic on all of your sites increases very quickly, then you could find yourself up a certain creek without a paddle.
MySql has plenty of GUIs out there to choose from, I'm pretty sure others can tell you about them, personally I use Aqua Data Studio, which isn't strictly a GUI, but it's good for my needs.
Anyway, as the end of the day it's your choice how you take this forward, but I know there are those that will agree with me on this!
Cheers,
Tom

before. For ages I have been telling my self that I should use it instead of Access
(I use access on all my sites but they are all low traffic and Access works
fine for all of them for the most part).
It would take a while to download mySQL and learn how to use it and convert
all existing data / code to use it.
I have had that DB running for at least a year and it's been fine. I'll just have to remember to do a little house keeping on it every few months.
Thanks for all the suggestions anyway.

No, using the registry is suicide - avoid it at all costs. It is not as if mySQL costs anything :-p

Brings up an interesting thought though,
If you're using access for client var storage, would you be better off using the registry?

You might want to consider using a slightly more robust database like mySQL or postgres, so you don't have to keep downloading/repairing/compacting the access database.morning.
