you might want to setup a sort of tinyurl thing to accommodate this, e.g. 
http://yoursite.com/link.cfm?link=1234
cflocates to
http://www.someothersite.com/pagename?with&too&many&parameters.....................

display the short url version on the page, so users know they can use that 
instead.

Does any know the maximum link length (including url variables) that IE can
handle?
 
I've got a system which allows users to enter hyperlinks and its currently
capped at 300 characters, but someone here has links they need to enter
which are around 400 characters long, which i'm going to have to
accommodate.
 
I'm quite surprised a link that long works to be honest, so does anyone know
off the top of their heads how long links have to be before IE stops reading
them?
