Dont know if anyone would be interested, but I just recover the marketing
description for the late Adobe ColdFusion Performance Tuning courseware.
I taught I had the coursebook but wasn't able to find it.
Anyway, this dates from 99/00, prior to the acquisition of Allaire by MM.
The course focused on the methodology to identify and correct bottlenecks,
using Segue SilkPerformer and some scripts.

It's interesting to see that there tracks like "Removing false bottlenecks",
I have no idea what a false bottleneck may be, and "Using Asyncrhonous
Processing", although how the heck did they do async processing without
gateways I'll leave for you to imagine.

I'll try to see if I can find the coursebook, it would be interesting to
compare to what I am doing today.
Regards,
Marc.

ColdFusion Performance Tuning ($1,150)*ColdFusion Performance Tuning* is a
2-day course that provides developers, IT professionals and QA engineers
with the knowledge and hands-on practice they need to fully load test
applications. This course, aimed at serious development professionals
deploying mission-critical ColdFusion applications, leverages an
enterprise-level testing tool to demonstrate and teach Allaire's proven
methodology for tuning applications for maximum performance. This
methodology is repeatable in your environment with your company's testing
tool of choice.

Segue SilkPerformer<http://www.segue.com/html/s_solutions/silk/s_performer.htm>,
an industry-leading load test tool, is used to demonstrate the process of
measuring the true capacity and scalability of your ColdFusion applications.
The methodology presented in this course will safeguard your applications
against performance pitfalls.

This course teaches a load testing methodology that is platform-neutral. The
methodology can be used to test applications written on any platform that
ColdFusion supports. However, you'll be learning in an NT environment since
the course uses Segue SilkPerformer which runs on a Windows NT. When
applicable, the instructor will address Unix-specific issues.

Hi Kola,

Sorry, I'm down here in Brazil, not many resources here too, sorry :)
There is a nice CF blog run by some friends (* *www.cfgigolo.com , it
means "cfpimp" ) which is well written and very updated, but it's in
portuguese.

I've done a lot of CF tuning for the Brazilian government and some MM
clients here, and I had the same problem as everyone, I guess... had to dig
deep in order to understand what was happening. Turns out that in the
process I really got an understanding on how to tune my JVMs (with some help
from MM engineers) that now run very smooth.

Correios (www.correios.com.br) which is my most important client, gets
more than 30 million page views monthly, with an average of less than
60ms/request.
Their intranet, where we can't use much cache, also has at least 15,000
users on a daily bases, and I was able to get the request execution average
to something between 150/250ms.

The process I found uses both, server tuning and code tuning, in order to
identify bottlenecks, correct them, test, deploy and then follow-up for some
time in order to record the performance gain. The problem is that there is
more than 300 different apps, hundreds of thousands of lines of code, much
of it dating from CF 4.0, you have no idea how much bad code I had to
re-write in order to get this performance.
I could write a book on how to NOT code CF just from what I found there
:o)

Anyway, I'll let you know if I remember anything usefull for your link
collection.
Regards,

Marc.
