From what I understand, though I'd really need a CF Engineer to
confirm/deny this, is as follows:
The ColdFusion server (as of v8), regardless of acting as the server or
client, is always using TLS, which is essentially SSL v3.1. Therefore,
when talking to a client which only supports up to SSLv3, CF should
"drop down" to SSLv3 rather than using TLS for communication.
Whether any of this actually works is a completely different matter as I
have never tested it.
For version 7, I believe you will need to use a 3rd party solution as it
only support SSL2 (I think it partially supports SSL3 for CFLDAP but
again I'd need an engineer to confirm).
Did you file a bug/ER for v8?

Does anyone know if CF8 supports SSL v3 when connecting to sites using
CFHTTP please? I read that CF7 does not support SSL v3 which explains how
I've wasted 4 hours trying to get it working. (I imported the certificate
into the Java keystore first of course)
It's a shame that was not mentioned in the CF7 docs. Is there a workaround
to force CF7 to work with SSL v3 please?
I would have thought that as an enterprise product (CF7 Ent) it would
support SSL v3. >:-)
Thanks,
Gary F.
