Well after several hours of p1ssng about with this I finally got the answer ....!

I just couldn't understand why the background image on the css wouldn't appear after I uploaded it. I tried just about everything with cache I could think of with several code changes to accomodate what I thought was going wrong.

In the end ....... A [EMAIL PROTECTED] corrupt JPG file .... AGHHHHH..!!!! sometimes you just can't see the wood for the trees.

Thanks to everyone as usual.
I did manage to learn a bit more about CSS and caching though ... - lol

Regards - Paul

Why not just just put the css into a .cfm file, then you can put variables
in it.

<link rel="stylesheet" href="style.cfm">

Or

<style>
<cfinclude template="style.cfm">
</style>
