Wow, if there really are that many collections then I doubt the poor server
has any memory left, and its obviously not one of ours :-)
We have a server with 40 collections on it, and the K2Server is using 350mb
RAM just for that.

Other reasons.

1. your page is exceeding the timeout set in the coldfusion administrator.
You can override this using cfsetting.
2. There is Fusion-reactor or Seefusion on the server which also has max
request timeouts, which you cannot override.
3. The server has not been defragged for ages, thus indexing may be
excessively slow
4. Is the server spec up to the job with so many collections

Hi all,

We're coming across a Verity slowdown issue - our app is on a 6.1 server with apprently 5,500 collections. We've set up a schedule to index three collections of documents nightly. This schedule is timing out.

If we delete the collection and run the task then it runs ok. The next time we run the task and it times out.

I believe the server is standard edition. I guess the amount of collections could be causing the timeout when we try and update the collections. Anyone throw any light on this?

Cheers
d
