Not often I can chip in here, but just wanted to say from experience
that using registry is not recommended.

There is a critical mass for when the cleaning of this gets so
cumbersome it basically kills your server CPU (CF7/JRun, might be better
in CF8). Unfortunately, registry is the default setting so do have a
read on Google about changing this.

Using database is preferred method unless your site is rather unusual.
