Russ is right. Or if you can get your hands on Photoshop you can create a
macro to recolour a batch of images and the quality will be rather good
providing the colours you want to replace are consistant throughout every
image.

Or put them in a box as Russ says - maybe a rounded box using the various
tricks available or just use CSS like this:
-moz-border-radius: 12px;
-webkit-border-radius: 12px;
Clealy IE doesn't support the above.
