I would really prefer not to go with GPL here. The viral qualities of
the GPL really turn me off - if some corporation wants to pick up
RedRacer and modify it for their needs internally (or even as a
public-facing project), I think they should be able to do so.

Mind you they can. They'd only have to publish the source code if they distributed it; simply using it internally, or even using it for public access does not yet require publication of the modifications (that's exactly the situation the AGPL covers).

One benefit of going the GPL route would be that we could use GeSHi, because the knobs who wrote it licensed it as GPL for whatever sodding reason: http://qbnz.com/highlighter/
