I have always thought and still do, think its utterly pointless in
encrypting code, not to mention that its easily broken...

I prefer open source.   One way is to provide the code crypted and if they
crack it good on them, what you should have it crucial SQL/application
settings within SP's and encrypt them.... they cannot be decoded!
