Apologies for the OT (and the cross-post if you're on uk.comp.sys.palmtops).
We've built a mini web-based app for petrol tanker drivers to use (we're in the fuel industry) and want to buy a palmtop device to both develop against and also to demo it on. We've been looking at a couple of machines from symbol (never heard of them before last week) which cost about 2k a throw and then someone suggested the xda. We're hopefully going to get one of the symbols on trial shortly. Whatever we buy probably won't get a lot of use outside of the occassional demo. Chances are that the tanker drivers will have robust mobile devices bought for them that bounce when dropped (i.e. not your regular palmtop, which rules out the xda) and, ideally, we'd like to buy one that's similar. As yet, we don't have any customers using the new app, so aren't sure what's being used in the field. I also wondered if there was a way of purchasing the device on a long-term lease agreement so we can always have an up-to-date model. At least that way we don't have to stump up 2k now (if we go the symbol route). Does anyone have any recommendations or any advice? Any good sites that have palmtop/pda reviews?
