Hi Giles, I`m developing a Flash 6 one at the moment as well and have the same issue. Flash 6 as you know you get option of publishing to .gif as well but I agree its a pain to have to do that when 98% of pc's supposed to have Flash anyway. Anyway, I need a detection script as well to give alert to upload to latest Flash 6 PLayer if they don't have it. Checked Aidans links to MM site but links to that info seem broken. Would be nice though if there was a feature in Flash 6 to publish the .swf file that would include an understudy .gif to display if flash 6 were not present and make a cup of tea for you as well:-)

Thanks, I really need to get them to install if they don't have it. Site is nothing but flash, having to a html version too would be a nightmare. I have downloaded flash 5 from the archive bit but I can't get it to install. I get a .cab file and in that there is a .inf and a .ocx. I have tried right clicking on the .inf and going to install but nothing seems to happen. The player certainly hasn't installed. Hiya Giles, http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/jv16powertools.shtml Jounio's software might help. Does your detection script give the option of a download for Flash 6 or a .gif whatever replacement page if the Player is not found or incompat ver detected? rgds Colm Colm Brazel MA CB Publications www.cbweb.net <http://www.cbweb.net> [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -----Original Message----- From: Giles Roadnight [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 29 November 2002 17:32 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [ cf-dev ] OT: testing flash detection script. I am about to write a flash detection script. How do I uninstall flash from windows XP? I don't want to uninstall Flash MX, just the player. Also is there somewhere I can download old versions (like 5) Thanks Giles -- ** Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/dev%40lists.cfdeveloper.co.uk/ To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For human help, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- Incoming mail is certified Virus Free.
