Just put some javascript code in the template around the areas you don't
want written out to check the url for the presence of google stuff.

E.g. and not correct syntax do this in javascript

if (!url.querystring contains "translate_c"){
Document.write ("reg button")}

Otherwise don't 

Cant remember the javascript syntax but that should do what you need

ah, no, cause the translation is being run through Google's translation
engine so i can't just reload the page with that variable...

take a look at

translate, and you'll see what I mean...
