In theory you can do this using the SecurityService in the coldfusion service factory, but 6.1 doesn't seem to work quite the same as plain old 6. I eventually found out that I was getting an error telling me that I wasn't authorised to access that method, so quite how I get access to use the method I'm not sure. Anyway.... I thought ye olde trick of disabling the CFAdmin password and then changing it in the administrator had been "fixed", so that you couldn't change the password whilst disabled. Turns out on standalone (couldn't say for other versions) you can still do this... Thanks for telling Taz how to get the password for me, while I was unable to get to my email.
