The thing is, that we all use some form of methodology based on CF... Try imagine what would happen if there was no "web framework software" to build around (and yes I do realise that this happened about 10 years ago).
We have n-tier models of applications and we have different layers that we should use for different things. We all (I am assuming) use ColdFusion, in some way shape or form and that means we all have a common understanding of how certain things work (ie session mgmt, databases etc). We will never reach a point where we are all using the same "software" to do everything, because I don't think MS will let us! If it does go that way, it'll be the way of someone somewhere creating such a unique set of tools that will simplify everything in terms of development. This hasn't happened yet, and probably won't ever, because as soon as they do, it'll get ripped off as people try to make money (and we all have an idea which *soft may well be at the top of the ripping off pile)! Anyway... Just a bit of a rant. We all have methodologies, we all use tools, we all use what we think is best and we all avoid what we think is rubbish.
