5000 emails shouldn't be a problem. which version of CF are you using?
even on 4.5 I think this would be ok.

Lo all,

If I have a DB with, say, 5,000 addresses and I want to send an
email to each of them .. would it be advisable to do this through good old
CFMAIL. I've never had to ever send this many emails in one go so I'm
curious as to how best to send them without breaking the mail server and
I'm sure this number may double in the future. I would have thought
breaking them up into batches of 100 or so might do the trick with maybe a
delay between the sends but Im sure you guys must have done something
similar so its best practices territory again :)

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Regards
