Badly designed database access can have a huge impact on the time pages
take to render.

IIRC, Ben Forta said that poor SQL was something he frequently saw
amongst ColdFusion developers (and I'm as guilty as most).

I bet that in almost all applications (heavily trafficked or not) would
benefit far more from attention being paid to those areas where
significant performance increases can be obtained relatively "cheaply"
(i.e. SQL optimisation) than by fastidiously coding every iif() as cfif
/cfifs.
