Wow, I wasn't expecting quite such a response to my original email!

All I wanted was the correct syntax, which I have gratefully received from
this group.  In my case, the page is a one-off that gets called about 5
times a day, so I'm not going to lose any sleep over CFIF or IIf or Java,
but I will bear the performance issues in mind for larger sites with more
usage!
