IIRC you have to restart the CF service for this to take effect.

               If I make a change to the ip address of SMTP setting on CF
               Admin on a production box - what will need to be done to
               take affect:

               CF restart?
               server reboot?
               nothing?

               this is quite important as I have to advise if this change
               needs to be done out of hours (server reboot)????
