Sorry bit late on this one but a piece of software you might want to look at
is Flash Studio Pro from a company called MDM. Address is:

It will only work as a standalone application but the features you can add
onto your Flash projectors is quite impressive.

You might want to check out a program called Screenweaver as well. I've not
used it myself but it might do the job.

I have to say, that when a client asks for stuff like that, they get a
flat out "NO!", then I discuss with them what they really want.

I would say that Sam's Director approach is more acceptible, but I'm 
still inclined to see what it is that the client is really after.  Do 
you really want a standalone application that tinkers with someones PC
