The main difference with SQL 2000 is that you can have several instances running on the server.

You need the ip/servername , port ,the instance name and the database name username and password

Not sure if you Enterprise Manager for version SQL2000.

Hello again all. I have been off sick (again) for 6 weeks and now back to
the grindstone.

I have returned to find a new server with SQL 2K installed. (which will
need to host some of my data)

I want to use enterprise manager on my machine here to connect to the new
server.
I don't have control of this new server but I will need to get access to
the databases I control. The techy person that "owns" the server doesn't
have much techy knowledge on SQL server and aviods my techy questions ....

What information do I need to give enterprise manager to do this etc etc
etc ....
Is there a tutorial anywhere on doing this ..?
