~lol~

Brian,

The reason for Snake's dj vu, is because a bunch of people on another list were discussing just this topic. At the end of it all, the general concensus was that SEOs are often all talk - no action, not worth the money and probably easier to optimise your site yourself.

Some gems from Erika, Peter and Paul :

Erika said :
It all centers around content. Excellent, keyword rich, relevant content and linking structure. Do other sites link to your site? Do you link to other sites? Use only your top keywords in your title and don't
use negative weight words like "and, for, the, a, of, to ... " etc.

Do you use an H1 tag with Keywords in it?
Does the paragraph that follows that H1 tag talk about what was in the H1? Do you BOLD the keywords in your content? Do you use a META description with good relevent keyword content?

Do you have a good sitemap?

Peter said :
I needed to rank it high in a search, so I got the top ranking page to link to mine.

Paul said :

Hope that helps some.

Oh apparently Google has been indexing Flash content for sometime, but looking at some of the searches invovlving flash content don't expect the results to be good or for Google to actually follow any links in the flash, so if you've used flash navigation, make sure that you have a plain html link to a good site map, so that the content of your site past the home page can be indexed!

Regards

Stephen
