Alright, I'm always shifted from nvidia to compiz...but I feel this is a compiz
issue.
It's the dreaded titlebar bug. The URL attached to this bug is a screenshot of
it (somebody else posted the screenshot, but I have the exact same issue.
Look at both titlebars, as they're both various things that happen with the
titlebar.
I've had this happen in gutsy with default compiz, and in hardy with default
compiz. I've also recently installed 0.7.6 in gutsy, and have it happen then.
I've tried the ClearLooks theme in Hardy that was supposed to have fixed it,
but that didn't do it.
I've tried every manner of nvidia drivers. I've tried the ones from the
restricted drivers manager for gutsy and hardy. I've tried installing it by
hand, from nvidia.com. The versions I've tried are 169.12, 174.08, 174.14.09,
and another one in between I forget the version number.
The only way I have found to stop this bug is by disabling compiz. That is the
only way. I've tried every fix anybody has suggested to me.
In relation to the bug itself: it seems to glitch out most when the mouse
interacts with the titlebar. If I mouse over the titlebar, it'll usually
alternate between glitched and not. Usually mousing over the close button can
fix it, but it may take a couple tries. "Wiping" another window over the
glitched window also doesn't fix it.
On the upside, it appears that the opacity of the titlebar has something to do
with it...I recently changed the opacity from 100% to 80% for active titlebars
and it hasn't appeared to have glitched since I changed that setting...not sure
if it's just luck or that's related.
