This _is_ an Nvidia and/or Xorg issue.
You have the following options to improve the problem:
- Go back to the 100.14.19 driver
- Try another decoration theme
- Play around with the opacity options
The problem got a lot worse in the 169.xx.yy driver, hence the first
suggestion. The latter two suggestions are plainly related to the issue being
timing related, and both the selected theme and the selected opacity influence
drawing timing.
There is close to no probability that this is a Compiz issue for a couple of
reasons:
a) It happens _only_ with Nvidia drivers, and the issue is worse with certain
driver versions than with others.
b) Compiz just calls the Metacity theming code to actually draw the decoration,
it doesn't draw it itself.
c) If it was a Compiz issue, it wouldn't explain that a similar issue occurs
with kwin: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=1500244&postcount=8
Feel free to reopen if you have any _evindance_ that this is a Compiz issue.
