Hello Martin,
there are several reasons why we have decided to make our own build:
- at the beginning syseleven packages seemed to be built using
contrail-packages as is (but now it seems there are probably some
differences?)
- still there are some missing packages so it doesn't seem to be
deployable easily
- we wanted to have possibility to patch our builds and have some more
control over it
- we decided not to use official distribution from contrail-packaging,
because unfortunately it doesn't meet expected quality standards on
packaging
- also making our builds gives us some deeper insight on how the machine
works under the hood
Anyway I would like to join and maintain contrail-packages so anyone can
make own build and deploy without reinventing the wheel.
Possibly we can try to contribute to Debian so Opencontrail may be part
of Debian and Ubuntu distributions once.

Maybe I just miss something, some contribution guide or intro would be great.
Anyway at the moment we are facing few issues:
- missing parts of contrail-web-core (eg. file
contrail-web-core/src/serverroot/web/core/rolemap.api.js)
- these files are present in official contrail-web-core package but I can't
find where it comes from, it's not even present in Juniper/contrail-web-core
repository [4] and without it, web UI doesn't work?
- where are sources for package contrail-f5? It is package from official
distribution but I can't find sources for it to be able to extend
contrail-packages to build it
Can someone help with these issues?
When all issues above are fixed, we are going to upload builds on our Launchpad
PPA, publish blog articles on building Opencontrail packages using Pbuilder
(clean chrooted environment) and deployment guide together with opensourcing
our Salt formulas for automated deployment.
If there is someone interested in contrail-packages (especially Debian builds)
to discuss changes and participate on further development, please let me know.
May I ask if you have run into any issues with our packages, which are
available at

need
fixing and that made you start to build your own set of packages?
(I can see that you have added a number of packages that we didn’t care about
yet,
so for those, it’s obvious. But what did you do, for instance, about
contrail-controler?)
I’m just asking because you are at least the fourth company I know of that is
by now
building their own OpenContrail packages, and this doesn’t make too much sense.
