Same ‘old’ version of kafka works fine on Xenial too.
So, I am not really sure what the point is.

Upgrading kafka to a newer version is an orthogonal issue.

Contrail uses kafka, which is very old

We wanted to use 0.10, but it requires some changes in code to make it work.

Is this because the version of kafka in Xenial is too new? Does contrail
depend on an outmoded kafka API?
