Lukasz,

Couple of notes.

 1. Nobody is ripping out analytics. If the community considers them
important the project can continue under community leadership. Lets
talk to Mirantis or ENEA, maybe they will be willing to contribute
some resources to get this going.
Sure. But this way we end up with two analytics (and web uis) - a community-led one and an Appformix-based one. My [initial] point was that OpenContrail core must be able to talk to both, so introducing an extra piece of the puzzle doesn't result in any conflicts. And it also should be an added value, not an implicit requirement. Say, you have it, you get smarter SI scheduling. You don't (that is, you have a community version only), you get a simple random scheduler, but you can still run an SI with it.

According to what's posted it looks like this is the case, but personally I'd still like to look at the blueprints as discussion is a bit too general now.

Thanks,
Valentine

 2. OpenContrail just like Linux kernel is not a product it is a
community code base. Distro manufacturers create a product from that
base code which they sell. Or you can create your own distro based
on open source which you maintain. Which is what some openstack and
opencontrail customers do. As a commercial site operator you are
likely to use commercially supported products in your environment.
Which will still be available from Mirantis and Juniper. So, I do
not see a significant market impact. And if you are DIY type, then
some contribution from you in terms of bug fixes and maybe
maintenance of a module, like analytics is expected.

Thanks

Greg

I don’t agree with your assertion that contrail is viable product
without contrail analytics shutdown (operational status)

I am not sure if I verbalized properly what I meant - as a network operator, when looking for moving my datacenter to SDN solution, I am not going to consider OpenContrail as viable product on the market if analytics is gone.

and other services in contrail should not use analytics API
    (operational status).

Can you please tell a little bit more? I, personally, find situation, where cluster status is reflected by multiple sources of truth, a little bit confusing. Perhaps I am missing something.
