With TLM, utilities like "w" and "who" work. If you are developing something that deals with normal user sessions (excluding ssh sessions and such), it may be more advisable to use logind dbus APIs instead, as you can get signals for events, etc. But it of course depends on what you are trying to do and for what purpose?
