I suggest formally dropping support for `LOG4CXX_CHAR=unichar` in the next ABI version. Building with `LOG4CXX_CHAR=unichar` has been broken since 1.6 (asyncbuffer.cpp, smtpappender.cpp and threadutility.cpp do not compile).
