Initial setup is complete. You can see a very barebones site at
http://lucene.staging.apache.org/lucene
bq. Where will the subversion space for the site sources go? Under
repos/asf/lucene/new-site-dir/?
SVN for all this is at: https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/lucene/cms/trunk
I'd suggest we can subdivide that to have solr, core, pylucene and ORP. The
nice thing is we can have a consistent look and feel and far less maintenance.

Not sure what you mean by unversioned content. The Wiki won't be going away.
