I dont agree at all. Mike's check goes much further than any proposed checks,
it enforces that we test every possible release (Including testing
"unsupported" behavior, which is also important, and won't be in Version.java).
I really think this should be in the smoketester. Sorry, our backwards
compatibility is a total mess and we really need every additional piece of
sanity we can get: there have been quite a few bugs in it just in the last few
weeks.
This is the exact reason why I am ensuring we test every release.
