That's a poor strategy to me looking from an user's point of view. I hit the 
JSON facets issue just recently when implementing search for one of our clients 
and it was a bit disappointing to me (and strange to the customer) that the 
syntax/format of the call API would determine what you have in your schema. We 
ended up with a copyfield just to have the facets right and keep JSON request 
convention.
