I think the 2 IPv6 cases are sepcial: deadServers should explicitely assume not
working server. I think using the IPv6 Adress was done to work around the
FreeBSD blackhole (maybe). I am a little bit nervous, what happens if there is
actually something listening on that port?

I think the one in BaseDistributedSearchTestCase should use the same fake
address like the first one: ff01::114, ff01 are "reserved" private addresses in
IPv6 for thing like broadcasting. The connection will fail 100%. Can you try
that, too?
