This patch is getting big so I'm starting to defer "stuff that comes up" to new
JIRA's just for bookeeping purposes. Could I ask you to put in a new JIRA for
this and assign it to me (if you can). If you can't assign it to me, I get
notifications when new JIRAs come by and I'll grab it....
Also, if you're willing, it'd be great if you could exercise this stuff when I
merge it back into 4.x, nothing like having someone hit my code to flush out
assumptions and such.
