One of the usecases for IndexSorter is for when you want to e.g. do quick early
termination for a query. Then, if you sort the index (say by date), and you're
interested in documents sorted by date, then you can do a fast early
termination after visiting exactly N docs.
I'm not sure that I understand your proposal though and whether it'll help such
usecases?
