Chris,
I totally get where you are coming from and it's quite reasonable to point
out that Apache projects shouldn't have gatekeepers with regard to merging
PRs.

I certainly agree it'd be great if more PMC members actively participated in
merging PRs. But from my perspective, there is no purposeful gatekeeping
going on in the project.

You raise a fair question, "Are any of these contributors considered
committer-material?" but it did make me chuckle. Not that StackOverflow
developer community rankings are the end all be all, but personally, I rank
in the top 1 percent, and I feel like there are other PMC members who are
much more astute developers than I am. So, I don't think competence is an
issue.

The challenge, as I see it, is primarily about time availability among PMC
members. Most of us are balancing demanding day jobs with our passion for
LuceneNET. We're committed to the project and find great value in it, both
personally and professionally, but finding additional time can be
challenging.
We're open to suggestions that might us find creative solutions to enhance
our collaboration and efficiency. If you or anyone else in the community has
ideas or strategies to encourage more active participation, we're more than
open to them.

I hope this perspective sheds some light on our current situation. We all
strive to do our best, balancing our commitment to LuceneNET with other
responsibilities. Thanks for your understanding and for being a part of this
community.

Hi Shad,

are any of these contributors considered committer-material?
And I guess the main reason for me asking was: Are there no other PMC
members willing to help merge these PRs?

Betreff: RE: Personal feedback to the projects recent activity Chris,

The reason why in the past few months all of the PRs were merged by me is
that those PRs came from non-committers and as such, they did not have
permission to merge.

If you go back a few more months, you will note that some PRs were submitted
and merged by Apache committers. Of course, other committers are welcome to
participate, but that just hasn't been the case lately.

Thanks,

Hi all,

while reviewing this projects activity in the last 3-4 months as part of my
review prior to this weeks board meeting. I have noticed that while there is
a good number of people perticipating in discussions on this list and
submitting PRs etc. there is only one person that seems to be merging PRs.

Is there a reason for this? Usually a project shouldn't have a "gatekeeper"
that is the only person doing stuff like that.

Chris
