Hi all,
I have updated the flash intro according to Simon's excellent suggestions below. The URL is http://www.digitaldistribution.com/community/Demo2
I've made the changes (all but the first) but may well have done them poorly. Please tell me if you think it can be better.
No worries, it's definitely coming along nicely, and using the OOo2 logos for buttons looks nice too.
Improvement thoughts now. :)
Not sure about this wording in the "What is OpenOffice.org?" slide:
+ "OpenOffice.org runs on other operating systems"
Does that make sense?
Perhaps "OpenOffice.org runs on many operating systems" or similar?
+ In the same slide, the element looks a bit crammed together visually.
Perhaps move the "What is OpenOffice.org" title up a bit
+ The "OpenOffice.org" logo in the top left makes the top inch mostly unusable in this slide and others. Maybe it should be resized to be much smaller, or only used in specific slides?
Same thought with the CC License at the bottom. Might be better to just have it in one appropriate slide, as legally it doesn't need to be everywhere and it's taking up space.
+ The centering of elements appears unbalanced in many slides (i.e. the "OpenOffice.org Support" slide is off center to the left)
+ The advantages in the Advantages format don't appear very well ordered, and we can all probably think of better advantages to put there.
Might take some work though. ;)
+ Did you mention the OOo2 logo buttons were causing file size problems? If so, there'd have to be other ways we can use the logo's without increasing the file size too much.
+ On the download page, where it says "Download OpenOffice.org by going to the download page then selecting the nearest mirror site." isn't word very well for less experienced computer users. Probably better to reword that as something like:
"Download OpenOffice.org by going to:
http://download.openoffice.org/2.0/"
And ensure the URL is correct for whatever the release URL will be.
+ with the menu bar at the bottom, all of the menu items are in the same positions across all slides, except for the Components slide.
If you change back and forth between the slides often, you'll see the "Components" menu option moves to the left when you change to the Components slide.
+ The Components page of having the yellow caption description then buttons in it looks plain nasty.
Lets try and think of a different approach for it. This one just feels like the wrong direction. ;-)
Does this all help?
Regards and best wishes,
Justin Clift
